Many start the year off wanting to lose weight but this goal can become unachievable if not gone about in the right way. Rather than going on a strict diet, why not try making small healthy changes to your diet and lifestyle and building on these over the year. Here are some to consider:
-Cook more meals from scratch at home
-Increase vegetable intake
-Drink more water and replace other beverages with water
-Increase dietary fibre intake
-Reduce meal portion sizes and fill up your plate with low kilojoule vegetables
-Make healthier meal and snack choices, eat more real wholefoods and eat less processed and refined foods
-Start up an exercise routine and sit less
As part of AHWW many dietitians are holding events Australia wide, visit: http://healthyweightweek.com.au/events/ to find an event near you.
If events and changes aren’t something you have time for at the moment, why not simply try making some healthy meals, here’s a free recipe book you can download:
Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight may seem hard to begin with but start slow with a few healthy changes and build on these over time. Never give up and set small realistic goals.
